Lunchtime Jubilee Discussion

Professor Maitland's Keynote lecture in October highlighted the importance and urgency of communicating clearly the contributions that engineers can make to bring climate change under control. We were inspired to follow this up with a purposeful discussion open to all with the aim of building a community and a culture of positive engagement.

The 2015 Paris Climate Agreement will provide the focus for this initial session. Starting with a short and snappy presentation by undergraduate students assessing the contents and chances of success of the deal, the floor will be open for reflection, questions and debate. The meeting will conclude with a summary of the main outcomes of the event and an agreed proposal for a follow-up event.

No prior debating experience is needed. We will strive to take all questions and hear all informed opinions.

Snacks, refreshments and food for thought will be provided!
